We left Berlin on 28.02.17 in a flight to Barcelona. We spent few hours in the city. It was very pleasant!
Half of this day we were in the Airport and the other half we were flying to Miami, where we made a small stop over before flying to Brazil.
We arrived in São Paulo, Brazil, around noon and Katz family was already their to pick us up. It was a very nice day and warming moment!
After a first quick tour around, so Simon could have a first impression of the city, we ended up the day having some mangos and admiring the view from the 22nd Floor.
Simon is a football fanatic, so nothing better than go to Brazil and play some football at the beach! This match was in São Vicente, a beach near to São Paulo.
We hit the road very early in the morning in destination to Florianópolis, but on the way we had a very adventurous pre-storm moment in Ilha Comprida, a small island.
On our first day in “Floripa” we visited the beaches Brava and Lagoinha. We finished the day having an amazing fresh fish at Sambaqui neighborhood!
Second day at Florianópolis. Time to see the beaches Joaquina and Barra da Lagoa.
On our third day there, we went south and visited the Matadeiro Beach. It was a really cool place! Then we stopped by the Conceição Lake before heading back to a friend’s home.
We took a boat at the Conceição Lake and went to a more reserved part of the island. There we made a small tour and could appreciate the Waterfall.
This day we headed back to São Paulo and on the way we found the coolest car stop ever! All made of wood and with very cool shops, including a handcrafted leather store.
We got together Katz family and made a nice Barbecue party with the delicious Brazilian meat. It was a fun day with family!
Together with Katz closest family, we went to visit the Municipal Market. We tried several exotics fruits, a cocoa juice and some delicious Brazilian snacks like shrimp cake, pastél and bacalhau cake.
After a morning walking around, we had lunch at a restaurant called “Pitaya” (Dragon Fruit), very common in tropical countries. The food was really good and we learned how a Dragon Fruit’s tree looks like!
Of course that in Brazil you will find a Football museum in some moment. This one was super cool and inside the Municipal Stadium Pacaembú. It was an amazing experience!
We took a day off just to chill at the swimming pool and try to enjoy a bit the tropical weather and the sun.
We took the day to visit too things a bit far from the city center: the Morumbi Stadium and also the Interlagos Race Track. Very bad area for such a fancy sport! In the picture, a very famous bridge: Estaiada.
To celebrate Katz’s mother birthday, we made a cool trip to Paraty, a colonial city in the state of Rio de Janeiro. The road was also very colonial and it was super adventurous!
Right on our first day in the city a heavy rain arrived and stayed all day long, forcing us to stay in the hotel all the time. Sad, but at least we were surrounded by family! =)
It was Katz’s moms birthday and the weather didn’t seem to get better in Paraty. We decided to hit the road back to São Paulo and enjoy a nice family dinner in a restaurant. On the way back we stopped at the Ubatuba beach and had some amazing home cooked meal there!
After a day touristing around we met Katz’s friend for a very traditional “buteco” beer. It was a small bar in a corner, where we drank beer in small glasses and also ate some pastél.
We decided to explore all the region of Paulista Avenue. Katz showed all the Mansions that the avenue used to have and what is left from them. This one is almost falling apart but it is still beautiful!
We decided to go to the east part of the city, where Katz was born and grown. The area is much poorer than the one we were staying, but it was a nice experience to see it all around. In the picture a Pastél from her favorite place as a child.
Our time in Brazil was going closer to the end and we spent the day with Katz family and the night we went to see some Katz’s good friends playing in a bar. In the picture the friends, their baby and the grandma! =)
We spent more time with Katz’s family and we went to a Churrascaria, a place that looks like the paradise for meat lovers. This barbecue restaurant works with the meating never ending coming to your table. There’s also a huge salad buffet with some sea food and even sushi!
On our last ours in Brazil we went to this amazing place called “O Velhão”. Click on the picture to read about, because the place is fantastic! It was an amazing “see you soon” to Katz’s family and Brazil! Thank you all the people for those nice moments! =)
We had a 10 hours stop by Miami on our way back to Barcelona. The day around there was simply amazing and we are definitely coming back for much more!
Another day between flights and airports. We were back in Barcelona just for few hours. Then we headed to London, where we spend the night in the hotel linked in the picture!
On our way from the hotel back to the airport, we found a really nice mini train track! It was such a nice surprise! The owner even gave us a small tour in the place to show all the details!
We finally arrived in Bangkok! It was such a weather shock but we survived. After a small nap in our hotel, we went for a small night tour at the Wat Pho, the temple really near to our hotel. It was beautiful!
On our second day in Bangkok, we decided to go around the shopping area. We were having a big eye on buying electronics and gadgets around there, but the prices and variety were not so attractive.
We decided to take this day to visit Wat Pho during the day, we also went to the Royal Palace and explored all the area walking. In the end of the day we went to the Golden Mountain Temple to appreciate the sunset from the top of it. It was extremely beautiful!
Time to leave Thailand. We took a bus in Bangkok in direction to Siem Reap. The border was an adventure, but it was everything just fine. Click in the photo to read it!
We arrived in Siem Reap one day before we planned. We picked a hotel near to the center to spend the first night and on the second day we walked to ours. We found this amazing temple on the way!
It was time to visit the famous and amazing Angkor Temples. The area is huge, so we hired a Tuk Tuk to take us to a tour. It was really impressive! Click in the photo to read about our day at the Angkor Archeological Park.
After a hot day having some beers at the Siem Reap central area, we took a night bus to Sihanoukville. It was time to leave the city and enjoy the beach a bit!
On our first day in Sihanoukville was raining a lot. We even thought that would remain that way for our little days around there. We stayed in a hotel very near to the Sihanoukville port and spent all day in because of the heavy rain.
The sun was shining beautifully in the sky and we decided to stay in a beach a bit away from the party area of Sihanoukville. We headed to Otres Beach and had our first amazing beach day there.
What an adventurous day! We rented a scooter and met two guys on the way that took us for a crazy tour! Click in photo to read all about it!
It was our last day in Sihanoukville. In the morning we took the Scooter to explore some other beaches. Later we left Otres beach and stayed at a hotel really near to the train station.
Very early in the morning we took a train in direction to Phnom Pehn, the Cambodian capital. We were expecting a trashy train, but actually it was amazing! First class train, with very comfortable sits and air conditioner. Took a while to get to Phnom Penh, but it was a great experience!
In Phnom Penh we went to a travel company to provide our visa to Vietnam. Besides the capital was just a bridge for our Vietnamese tour, we had a good time exploring it all around!
For a last day in Phnom Penh we went to the Central Market and the Olympic Stadium, besides we all know that Cambodia never hosted an Olympic game and has no plans to host it in the future.
Very early in the morning we took a bus to the Vietnamese capital, Ho Chi Minh city. Click on the photo to read how was our experience!
We were stunned by Ho Chi Minh! We took our two days in the city to explore as much as we could. If you want tips on what to see around there, click in the photo!
On our second day in Ho Chi Minh, we discovered the Street Food Market, our favorite place to eat in the entire Vietnam. We went there for all meals from that moment on!
We took a flight to Hanoi, where we wanted to start our tour through the Vietnamese cost to end up back in the old Saigon.
On the day before, on the way to the airport, Simon had a bad move and was with a bad back pain. So we saved our adventures in Hanoi. Even though we found some energy to discover the Restaurant and Bar Streets. Pure fun!
Early in the morning we took a bus to the very touristic area Ha Long Bay. When we got there everything was different than the expected. Click on the picture to read!
We decided to rent a Scooter and try to find a nice beach. After being a bit frustrated, we crossed a huge and beautiful bridge and ended up in a Fishermen area with an amazing view!
Time to leave Ha Long Bay in direction to Ninh Binh. It was a day travel and when we arrived in Tam Coc, a village very near to Ninh Binh, was already dark.
We took the day to make the famous boat tour in Tam Coc. It was very beautiful and worthy. The tour goes under 4 different caves and has an impressive surrounding! Later we took a night bus to Hue.
We arrived in Hue very early in the morning and we used the time to explore a bit the area. As soon as the check in time arrived we went to the hotel, where we stayed all day. We were both feeling really bad and sick and took a day off to recover.
We didn’t stay long in Hue. Right on the next morning we took a day bus to Hoi An, where we reserved a hotel at the beach. We were in need of some beach relaxing day. We simply arrived, left everything in the hotel and ran to the sea. It was amazing!
Like I said… all we wanted was some relaxing time at the beach. We spent all day between this beautiful and soft sand and the warm water!
The beach we were had some of those cute fisherman boat. It was nice to share the space with them! For us, another day at the beach!
We rented a Scooter to explore Hoi An. It was a very pleasant day around this cute and historical city! At night we risked a small travel to Da Nang, to go to a bigger supermarket. For our surprise, the city was super beautiful!
Our last beach day, our last goodbye to this small paradise that Hoi An is!
After spending the day at the center of Hoi An (working a little bit), we took a night bus to Nha Trang. The fun thing is that we had an empty tire and had to stop for repairing.
As soon as we arrived in Nha Trang, we waited another hour and took a bus to Mui Né. In Mui Né, right on the first day, we went for a walk at the Fairy Stream. It was stunning!
On our second day we rented a Scooter and went to visit the White Dunes for the day. After lunch we visited the city market and then we went to the red dunes for the sunset. It was a very adventurous day! At night we even found a small street food market as cool as the one in Ho Chi Minh. But the food was not as nice as there!
In the morning we took a bus to Ho Chi Minh. We just arrived back in the capital at night, where we had time to enjoy some food at the Street Food Market and rest for the next day.
Well, we all have to work, right?! We saved the day exclusive to work and we spend all our available time in this Western Bakery. It was amazing to have some Western taste after a while.
Our flight to Taiwan left at 00:30. We arrived very early in the morning and we took all the time until 14:00 to explore around before the check in. At the afternoon we took a very needed nap and went out at night to see the amazing and vibrant Taipei!
For this day we decided to go along the port area in Tamsui. The place is really beautiful and we were falling in love with the city every step we gave!
After exploring all the central area, we went to the Taipei 101, the 8th biggest building in the world. The view, unfortunately, was just of 50%, but we took our chances anyway. Who knows when we are going to be back, right?!
Our flight to Japan was very similar to our flight to Taipei. It was during the night and we arrived very early in Tokyo and we could even take a picture in a completely empty avenue that is super busy during the day. Tokyo got our love as soon as we arrived. This city is unbelievably amazing! At night we went to see the Tokyo Tower.
Exploring the area around the hotel by foot, we found the Governmental Building and went to check Tokyo from the top. After that we went to Shibuya to see the famous crowded crossing (and the statue of Hachiko) and after that we went to Asakusa (picture).
During the day we went to visit Yoyogi Park and the Meiji Jingu. We ended up at the celebration of gay pride day. After a fun day we went to Shinjuku to discover the Piss Alley and the Golden Gai.
We spent the morning at the cleanest fisher market I’ve ever seen! After we went for a tour near to the Capsule Tower and we visited the Tokyo Tower also during the day.
On our last day in Tokyo we went to the Imperial Garden and we took the time to make a long good bye walk to our hotel. After that we took a train to the airport, where we spent the night.
This day was a very busy day at airports and flights. All in one day we made: Tokyo – Madrid, 1:30 hours pause, Madrid – Frankfurt. We arrived in Frankfurt late at night. We slept at the airport because we needed to leave really early in the morning.
At 5:00 we took the S-Bahn to the central station, where our train to Berlin left at 6:13. We were back home around 10 in the morning and already missing our days around the world.
